The power collector for electric locomotives has twin pantographs for alternating (23) or direct (24) current supply lines (25). The casing (2) contains the contact breaker (6), main switch (7) and grounding switch (19) all immersed in an insulating fluid (5). Each switch is operated by a servo-pneumatic piston (17, 18, 20). An outlet gland (9) carries a cable (10) from the circuit breaker to the transformer (12) and from there through a rectifier (13) to the main switch. An outlet gland (16) carries the power cable to the electric motors. The grounding shorts the supply from above (26) the collection point insulating cone (1) directly to earth. The power busbar (8) is common to the contact breaker and main switch.
