The cartridge wad is particularly for hunting guns. a missile chamber is joined to a lip seal by a distorting structure consisting of a tubular section fixed to the opposite faces of chamber and seal, with its axis at right angles to that of the wad. The tubular section (6) is of oval shape, with its major axis parallel to the opposite faces of chamber and seal (1, 9). It is joined to these faces by walls (13, 14) in the plane common to the axes of wad and tubular section, and by lateral walls (16, 17) converging towards the tubular section and this common plane (X-X').
