Detection and measurement of electrical signal peak value - is performed by sampling and comparison of digital signals

Detection and measurement of peaks of electrical signals having a sensibly constant frequency is performed by sampling and comparison circuits after conversion to digital signals. A signal is applied to an analogue to digital converter (10) with a three decade memory. The output is applied to buffer bistable memories (15, 16) which store previous valve (15) and instantaneous maximum value (16). The instantaneous maximum value is applied to a comparator (19) which produces a sampling signal. The comparator outputs are applied to identical circuits comprising relay (24) counter (25) and JK flip flop (26) for gating (27) to determine maximum value. When this occurs contents of maximum value buffer memory (16) are gated (28) for printing (29).
