Coupling transformer variable by discrete steps - has wide selection of step ratios esp. for development work

The transformer having a coupling ratio which is variable in discrete steps is esp. for use in research and development work. The transformer has a single primary winding (1) with several separate secondary windings (3-7) each of differing numbers of turns varying as 3n-1 which are interconnected to give a wide selection of ratios to the primary. The secondary windings are stacked such that windings are laid away from the core (2) in descending order of their number of turns. The secondaries (3, 4, 5) having very small numbers of turns are laid side by side in the same outer layer.
