Cleaning machine for strawberry plants - with runners and large leaves cut by rotating blades including twisted piano wires extending between them

The cleaning apparatus is carried by a frame which spans the strip of plastics film through which the plants grow. The machine rolls over the ground on either side of the strip of plastics. A power driven cultivator on one side of the strip and a castor wheel on the side support the apparatus. Two rotating elements, arranged obliquely, carry star wheels whose spokes carry cutting blades. The star wheels are moulded in rubber and the spokes of successive wheels are connected together by twisted piano wires.
