The pelmet is designed to support a fabric valance over the head of a window, has panels which can be adjusted for length and depth, and has a fascia panel (5) which can retract into an overhead horizontal position by pivoting. The retractable fascia is partic. suitable where fouling of internally opening window lights is likely to occur. The fascia may be subdivided longitudinally into three with the pieces (1, 5) connected by a telescopic rail (2) system allowing length adjustment. A similar arrangement may provide for depth-adjustment, and the panels may include an adhesive strip (9) securing the valance. The top edge of the fascia panel (5) may hinge about the edge of a further panel (4) which is screwed (6) onto the ceiling.
