Making inscriptions protected from fraud - e.g. signatures on documents or cheques, by applying a plastics film and forming impressions on it

The application of a protective transparent plastics film to the document is followed by embedding the film by means of several perforating impressions into the paper. Forgery of such a document, e.g. by gumming, is impossible, since when the film is torn away, the inscription comes away at the same time. The impressions are made by means of matrices, one bearing teeth, and the other containing corresponding holes for the tooth projections. The matrices may be flat, or adopt the peripheral surface of a roller.
