The slotted washer (12) is of case-hardened and tempered steel and is designed for mounting over the front face of a cylinder lock (3). The washer (12) prevents forced access by driving e.g. a screw-driver into the key-hole in prepn for shearing the locking mechanism, and partic. applies to locks operated by an axially inserted key (8) displacing radial sliding locking pins (11). The installed washer is free to rotate and its centroid may be nominal alignment with that of the rotor (6) of the lock. The washer is, thus offset relative to the stator or barrel (3). The washer may be fixed in position by a casing (15) of cylindrical cup form. An opening in the base of the cup gives access to the slot (13) and the keyhole; and the cup, which houses the lock in a circular hole through the door, has lip flaps (16) returned over an internal anchor plate.
