摘要
The ore is converted into an enriched powder concentrate (a), which is made into pellets (b) fed through a furnace contg. a reducing gas (1) functioning as the only or prim. reducing agent. The reduced pellets (c) are then fed through compacting rolls to mfr. the strip. Powder (a) is pref. made by grinding the ore and using magnetic- or gravity- sepn. and filters; alternatively powder (a) is made by chemical enrichment, in either case to obtain below 5% gangue. Pellets (b) are pref. below 10 mm size, with continuous or batch red in gas (1) which is H2 and/or CO. Pellets (c) are directly hot rolled twice, on leaving the furnace, or partly cooled, rolled and then sintered, followed by further rolling. Direct conversion of iron are to strip is affected.
