Automatic signalling taxi call-point - indicates presence of taxi to central exchange using map display

The call point for the use of the general public whenever a taxi is required, i.e. where a taxi rank as such does not exist. The caller contacts only a central control office which in turn directs the nearest taxi standing at or close to another such point. Each taxi has a very short range transmitter, two to fifteen meters, either radio or acoustic which triggers the call point. This in turn passes a 12 volt signal to the exchange via a single wire indicating its presence, this being indicated by lamps on a town map.
