The water flushing control for a lavatory separate from the cover, but of the same width to form an extension of it. It is directly coupled to the flushing mechanism and comprises a separate covering surface in the form of a shelf or tray (6), and a tappet (1) forming a vessel, movable up and down and independent from the surface. The vessel can be rectangular, of the width of the basin and cover, and with a reduced-diameter base (4) working in a guide (5) limiting the amount of movement. The bottom of the tappet can be coupled to a linkage (7) acting on a rocking lever (8) actuating the flushing mechanism.
