A pipe for carrying liquids in heating or sanitary plants comprises an elastic, non-toxic, polymeric tube such as high density polyethylene and an inner, adhering copper sheath having a thickness from 2-30% of the thickness of the polymeric tube. An outer coating of polythene foam may be applied to the polymeric tube. The outer surface of the copper sheath may be smooth, corrugated, or knurled to improve adhesion.
