CRRMO FERRITIC STAINLESS STEEL CAPABLE OF PROVIDING INTERGRANULAR CORROSION RESISTANCE TO SPOT WELD ZONE

PURPOSE:To provide the title steel having a specified compsn. of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Mo, N, Fe, etc. and exhibiting a specified Ni balance value. CONSTITUTION:The steel consists of C=0.1%, Si=1%, Mn 2%, N 0.04-0.1% and the balance Fe, and the Ni balance value of the steel represented by the equation is -9 or more. By raising the N content as compared to 0.03% of usual steel, intergranular corrosion resistance is easily provided after welding. In after-heat- treatment of the spot weld zone of this stainless steel or special treatment on welding, e.g. long-time electrification, the Ni balance value has a considerable effect, and intergranular corrosion resistance is provided to the weld zone.
