Ski safety fixing with separable sole plate - permits easy replacement of sole plate on ski with springs retaining sole plate

The ski (2) carries a central boss (4) which fits in an elongated hole (3) in the sole plate (1). The sole plate (1) has a rounded end (5) which is held in place by the bracket (7). The heel-piece (14) of the sole plate (1) is retained by a spring-loaded plunger (10). Under a shock load the force of the spring plunger (10) is overcome and the sole plate (1) is released from the ski (2). The sole plate (1) is easily replaced by placing it on the ski (2) so that the spring plunger (10) fits in the groove (16). The sole plate (1) is then snapped home by pressing on the bracket (9) so that the end (5) is forced past the ramp (21).
