Heat generation measurement in enzyme reactions - in stainless steel cylinder with porous polyethylene filters permitting substrate flow

An immobilised enzyme is located in a reaction zone which, apart from its inlet and outlet, is enclosed by a body of material having a high degree of thermal conductivity. The thermally conductive material is in contact on the one hand with the stainless steel cylinder forming the reaction zone, and with a thermistor on the other for the measurement of the temp. Filter plates are provided at the inlet and outlet to maintain the enzyme is position whilst allowing the fluid to be measured to pass through. The arrangement suppresses noise interference so that uniform measurements can be taken continuously.
