Purifying waste water on active carbon - with thermal regeneration and acid treatment of carbon, increasing adsorption capacity

Waste water is purified by contacting with active carbon and regenerating the carbon, when it is wholly or largely loaded with impurities from the water, by heat treatment, followed by treatment with acid. The active C esp. has an internal surface is not 500 m2/g. The thermal regeneration is carried out in known way. Strong acids are pref., partic. HCl. The concn. is esp. 0.5N. The adsorption capacity of the regenerated C is greater even than that of fresh C. The waste water is esp. from the textile or dyeing industries.
