The zero-position detector is for a petrol tank of a motor vehicle which indicates when a certain volume has been exceeded, and can be used to trigger the reserve supply. It consists of a volume meter with an indicator fitted to the gas tank, where the indicator will transmit a signal to a photocell. The output of the photocell is amplified and transmitted to a display on the dashboard. The photocell is incorporated in the amplifier circuit. The transmitter (11) is a light emitting diode (11) at an angle to the receiving photocell (12) forming part of the amplifier module and which are placed in the volume meter. The output of the transistor amplifier (18) is to a light emitting diode (20) on the dashboard.
