A pick-up needle is for the reproduction of recorded information signal on a high density information medium. The reproduction is in the form of a change in capacitance due to a change in the geometric shape on the tracks on a recording disc. The needle has a main structure with a pointed section and an electrode mounted on a support area. The main structure (40) has a pair of side surfaces (41) with front edges (43a, b) to determine the outline of the electrode support surface. The front edges have two parallel vertical sections near the point of the needle forming a small rectangle whose width is smaller than the width of the track. The remaining section of the edges of the electrode surface are inclined.
