The pushing-in apparatus on a refuse vehicle having a collecting box (2) and a filling trough (4) which is arranged behind the latter and has a curved and arched floor part (6), has a pivotable conveying slide (9) which raises the refuse (22), which has been collected in the filling trough, to the level of the floor (2a) of the collecting box. Here, the refuse is accepted by a pivotable pushing-in plate (19) and pushed into the collecting box (2). In order to prevent, when the conveying slide (9) is raised, the pushing of residual refuse (22a) in the filling trough (4) backwards onto the floor part (6b) by the conveying slide (9) when the latter makes its return movement, the conveying slide (9) has two parts. It has an inner wall part (8a) and an outer pivot plate (11) having a wall part (11a). The pivot plate (11) is pivoted backwards during the return movement of the conveying slide (9) so that it does not come into contact with the residual refuse (22a). Before commencement of the conveying stroke of the slide (9), the pivot plate (11) is then pivoted into the conveying position, so that it pushes the residual refuse (22a) upwards together with the refuse (22) which has just been poured in.
