The support means for member 14 may be further such spherical members (15, 16), a resilient tube (26), a serrated washer 9 or a combination thereof. The valve can be adjusted by the relative rotation of body portions 1 and 4. The embodiment of Fig. 6 comprises a first ball check-valve 30 at the outlet 2 with a serrated washer 31 to allow restricted flow when the valve is closed and a second ball check-valve 34 of the port 3, which in this embodiment is a secondary input from the air filter, each of the ball check-valves being operable at high vacuum in the manifold. A restricted orifice 33 is provided at the second ball check-valve to direct a concentrated fluid stream against the ball of the first check-valve. The whole assembly is preferably of plastics material, the balls desirably of soft polyurethane rubber, or Neoprene.
