ABSTRACTAfter dissolving irradiated nuclear fuel in anitric acid medium, the vapor produced by this dissolutionand consisting of water, nitrogen oxides and iodine ispassed into a condenser, then into a column for the absorp-tion of the nitrous vapor in which is formed recombinednitric acid containing iodine and nitrous ions, the iodinecontained in the recombined acid being then separated-out.The method of the invention is useful in extracting, trappingand storing of radioactive iodine contained in irradiatednuclear fuels.
