SINGLE PRINT ELEMENT SELECTION APPARATUSWITH MULTIPLE SELECTION INHIBITING MEANSAbstract of the DisclosureDisclosed is a selection apparatus for a printer of thesingle element type wherein the single print element iscarried by a print carrier. The carrier includes at leastone cylinder having a plurality of axially spaced apartcamming surfaces thereon, the cylinder mounted for bothaxial and rotational movement. Each of a plurality ofselection pins is engageable with one of the camming sur-faces to impart a predetermined but differing axial motionof the cylinder upon engagement of one of the pins withassociated camming surfaces and rotation of the cylinder.Pin selectors permit engagement of selected ones of the pinswith associated camming surfaces, the pin selectors includ-ing pin motion inhibitors associated therewith so as toinhibit multiple pin selection with associated cammingsurfaces to thereby prevent any attempt at differentialcamming of the cylinder along its axis by more than one pinengaging more than one camming surface.
