METHOD OF PREPARING A COPPER COMPLEX FOR USING AS AN ALGAECIDE

Abstract of the DisclosureA method of preparing a copper complex to be used ineliminating the growth of aquatic or marine plant life, such asalgae. The copper complex is formed by reacting finely dividedwater-insoluble copper carbonate with a complexing material,which comprises a combination of monoethanolamine and triethanol-amine. The copper carbonate is solubilized and complexed bythe material to provide a copper complex having improved stab-ility and containing an increased amount of elemental copper ascompared to copper complexes formed by prior methods, therebymaking the complex more effective as an algaecide.
