Medical breathing and anaesthetic apparatus has an absorber with holes through it communicating with a chamber filled with absortent material. Between the perforated zones is a dividing plate forming breathing and exhalation channels on opposite sides. This connects the breathing mask with the two channels. - At the end of the absorber tube remote from the mask connection is a channel with a quick release connection for a balloon or for manual operation. Within the perforated region at this end is a relief valve for the gases breathed out. Similarly, in the perforated region at the other end of the absorber tube is a valve for gas being breathed in. On the side of the housing holding the absorber tube is a vapouriser discharging level with the upper perforations.
