1387084 Transparency mounts S G PETTERSSON 10 Aug 1973 [17 Aug 1972] 38002/73 Heading G2X A transparency mount comprises two halves 1, 2, each having a thin portion (3, 7) in which is formed a rectangular opening displaced towards one end, and a thicker shoulder portion (5, 9) at one edge. The transparency 14 is located between the shoulder portions of the two halves, which fit together as shown, and are secured together by means of pins 11 on the half 1 which pass through corresponding holes in half 2, the ends of the pins then being rivetted over. Fig 6 shows a machine for automatically mounting the transparencies. These are fed into the machine in the form of a continuous film strip 23. The frame units 20, with the two halves already loosely assembled together are supplied in a magazine formed by angle rails 26, from which they are fed forward one at a time to the mounting station. At this station a pressure shoe 35, having an oblique lower side, is mounted for vertical movement. When it is lowered, this oblique side engages against the upper face of the shoulder 9 on the upper frame half, and tilts it upwards, as seen in Fig 11. While the two frame halves are thus opened apart, the film strip 23 is fed into it, and one frame 14 thereof is cut-off by a knife 31. Shoe 35 is now raised again, so allowing the upper frame half to pivot back into the closed position again. A vertically movable body 40 carrying a number of rivetting tools 41 (see also Fig. 10 not shown) is now brought downwards, the tools 41 engaging the tops of the pins 11 and rivetting them over, so that the slide unit formed by the transparency and the mount is permanently closed and finished. The completed unit 45 is now discharged from the machine.
