Flat bar cooling bed stacking arrangement - moves bars stagewise by throwing first bar into second stage

This stacking and cooling mechanism is used for simultaneous cooling and stacking of flat bars after rolling. The stacking process is simplified in comparison with conventional equipment in which the cooled flat bars have to be separately stacked into stacks of required size after cooling by separate operation. The cooling bed arrangement has a number of shallow steps so that it can accommodate flat bars of different widths. The bars arrive in the depositing trough and are lifted into the first stage of the cooling bed. Bars are actuated by the cylinder and piston assembly and shuffled into a stack which when complete is pushed further along the bed into a third groove and hence as a complete stack over the whole width of the bed.
