Transport and timing device for edged material, all of whose sides must once lie upwards e.g. for rod treatment in rolling mills when surface faults must be controlled and eliminated by grinding. A system, made up of a delivery, timing and lifting device brings the bars simultaneously into a machining position on a lifting table. It captures them by lowering the table in pivot levers and turns through 90 deg. At each second turn the system is moved forwards by a step so that on lowering the rod which has been machined on all sides, this carried away. Simultaneously a new bar is fed to the opposite side. The table is so hinged in its lifting motion that it does not disrupt the feed on one hand and on the other hand carries the bars above the feed system as close as possible to the machinist.
