Electrical conductors are connected such that the connection resistance is very low and suitable for high currents, as in nuclear fusion installations. The design also allows the connection system to be demounted since the technique avoids brazing or welding. Circular or rectangular cross-section conductors are brought together such that they are in line and are connected together by cross-straps of gold plates silver, the conductors either being drilled out or cut away to provide several mating surfaces into which are press-fitted several such cross-straps. In the case of rod conductors the connecting element will have a key-way to facilitate removal.
