The pleat-forming curtain tape (12) which has draw cords for forming alternate stretches of smooth heading and groups of folds or pleats is designed so that in the middle of each group of folds (20, 20') there is a fine ruching (21) of short meander-shaped windings (25) which exerts a force (26) like a compression spring in the lengthening sense. The width of the windings of the relevant piece of tape only amounts to a fraction, pref. a third, of the length (27) of the arm of the individual folds (20, 20') and this fine ruching keeps the groups of folds flat (28) against the two adjoining sections (14) of the tape (12). In this way, the folds or pleats are held by no special means out of the way of any other fitments used for hanging the curtains.
