Electrical contacts used in the telecommunications industry, which are usually made of Ag with contacting points of more noble metal and liable to attack by H2S and water from the atmosphere, are made resistant to the formation of metal sulphide on the Ag surface by alloying Ag with Al and/or by applying a barrier of a hydrophobic electrically insulating substance between the less noble metal of the support and the more noble contact surface so as to prevent an electrolytic ion transport reaction.
