The locking device has a flexible part fixed in the axial direction which meshes with the extension of the nut thread. It is maintained in place by friction in the circumferential direction. The locking device is a spring fork (4) which is fitted under tension in an annular groove (3) in the nut (2). The spring is made of metal and the ends of the spring fork are separated by a distance which is carefully calculated. The material of the spring is of a profiled section.
