The phase locked loop, as a frequency or phase reference, has an oscillator (2) whose output power is divided by a distributor (4) and passed via two HF cables to a resonator (1) and to the negative input of a phase detector (11). The resonator's output is connected to the phase detector's positive input. The phase detector's output controls the oscillator. The electromagnetic field in the resonator is large enough to degenerate the resonator's phase characteristics sufficiently to give a region of almost infinitely large negative phase slope.
