Ski binding release strap - has metal plate with sharp edged hole to grip end of ski stock

Strap (15) is fixed to the end of the release lever (6) of a ski fixing. A metal plate (19) is riveted to the strap and has a hole (16) with sharp edges (21)(22). When the skier wishes to release the ski fixing he inserts the lever end (17) of the ski-stock into the hole (16) in the plate and strap. The ski-stock is swung to a vertical position so that the sharp edges (20)(21) of the hole (16) bite into its surface. The ski-stock is then jerked upwards pulling the strap (15) and lever (6) with it so that the fixing is released.
