The ticket cancelling machine has a setting device for the print line comprising a setting disc with a toothed ring (111) and a ratchet wheel (71) at the side. The setting disc determines the position of the type wheel of the printer mounted on a common hollow shaft, with the toothed wheel (111) coupled to a position display, for direct read-out of the print line. The toothed wheel (111) engages an intermediate friction wheel (91) driven via a double friction wheel (81), associated with a magnet (41). The latter friction wheel (81) has a cog in direct engagement with a drive cog (31), driven via a central motor.
