The rod viscometer is for testing the rheological properties of material flowing under the effects of applied forces and has a measurement rod in a measurement cylinder, the material passing through the narrow gap between rod and cylinder and experiencing shear forces. The cylinder (4) and rod (10) are required to be at the same stable temp. This is achieved with a more compact than usual construction, easier handling and better measurement accuracy. A thermal stabilisation fluid passes through the cylinder (4) and a tube (9) into which the rod is inserted between measurements.
