Squeeze and rapping devices on upper part of moulding machine - with tubular member defining sand retaining space with squeeze plates

A moulding machine includes a moulding table disposed in a lower machine section and a squeeze cylinder disposed above the table. An open-topped hollow tubular member is operatively connected to the squeeze cylinder and a squeeze plate is mounted on the tubular member for pivotal movement between open and closed positions at the bottom of the member. The tubular member and squeeze plate cooperate, when the squeeze plate is in a closed position, to define a sand retaining space and to form a squeeze head operable by the squeeze cylinder. Used in sand moulding machine. Both the squeeze device and rapping device are disposed in the upper machine section to minimise the adverse effect of scattered sand to the machine. The squeeze head also acts as a sand hopper. The jolt device can be disposed independently of the squeeze and rapping devices. The design of the machine eliminates time-consuming horizontal reciprocal movement of heavy-weighted squeeze heads.
