The machine includes an outer cylinder with two bore dias. contg. a piston with a major dia. in bore, and a minor dia. in bore. Compressed air is fed into bore to drive piston upwards, but bore contains hydraulic fluid. In the top surface of bore is another cylinder contg. a sec. piston fixed to the underside of a press- or squeeze- plate. When air is used to drive piston upwards, hydraulic fluid flows from bore via valves into cylinder to move piston and therefore plate. The valves are closed when plate is in a desired position. The overall result is a machine of simple design with min. energy consumption.
