Colostrum utilisation in feeding older calves - by combining with acid whey and opt. preserving acid, and diluting with water

Colostrum, for use in calf-rearing, is combined with an acid whey prod. and opt. water, to set up a dry solids content of 6-15 (10-14) wt. % and pH 3.5-5 (3.5-4.2), opt. with the addn. of an edible, preserving organic acid. The protein and fat concn. of colostrum is lowered to suit older calves, e.g. 3 days old. Valuable materials, e.g. immunising bodies, can be used up; milk exchange is saved and quick perishing of colostrum is overcome. The prod. can be fed 4-7 weeks.
