Hot dip zinc coating plant for steel workpieces - where zinc can be fed into holding furnace while worn coating tank is replaced

The plant includes at least one heated tank contg. molten Zn into which the workpieces are lowered, plus a holding furnace, which has an outer jacket of thermal insulation. The furnace has a circular horizontal cross-section, and is provided with electric heating. When the tank has a metal wall, the thickness of this wall is at least twice the thickness of the wall of the furnace; and the wall of the latter is pref. 10-30% of the thickness of the wall of the tank. The furnace pref. uses electric immersion heaters, and has a cylindrical cross-section with a curved base. The furnace pref. stands on the workshop floor and can be moved between the tanks. The furnace is much less expensive than a tank and also reduces the time required to replace a tank.
