Lifting rope winch brake system - is loaded by spring and released by manually operated pneumatic actuator

The rope winch brake has a braking spring acting in conjunction with a pneumatic cylinder. The latter reduces braking force and is used for releasing the brake. The pressure of the air supply is varied by a manual lever readily located by the machine operator for controlling the brake on lowering the load. A cam (33) is carried along with the actuating leverl (32). Into the path of this cam is fitted a preloaded spring (34) which is further loaded if the manual lever (32) is moved for releasing the brake after contacting the cam with the spring. The distance of the spring from the initial position of the cam can be adjusted. The preload of the spring can also be adjusted.
