The endless strip of plastics bags is conveyed past a filling station where a jet of air is used to open the mouth of each bag. The strip consists of a horizontal band (2) from which each bag (4) is suspended by its top part. Each bag is attached by a weld (10) at one top end, with a part (10a) of the weld above the top edge (8). Between the end of one bag and the start of the next bag, is a rectangular cut-out (14) along the edge of the strip (2), following the bag in the conveying direction. This leaves a remaining portion (12) of the band (2) which is integral with the rear of the bag. At the junction between the end of the cut-out (12) and the edge of the bag is a hole for an air jet for blowing the top of the bag open for filling. The stip is designed to ensure that all the bags are blown open ready for filling.
