The valve pusher cup is intended for an engine with overhead camshaft and hydraulic valve clearance compensation. The cup consists of two parts, the insert (1) and the guide member (2), which are rigidly connected (13) such that there is no oil-filled void (3) whilst oil supply to the hydraulic component is assured (5). The connection may be by fine screw thread (13) and/or a light press fit in the hub portion (4) of the member (2) combined with tubular fasteners (6) pressed through the oil supply bores (5). The hub may be connected to the member (2) by spokes (12) containing the radial oil bores (5).
