Load-bearing heat insulated wall building block - has partitioned insulation filled chambers and vertical water retaining channels

Upright hollow spaces are provided in the building wall brick, which incorporates large chambers (1) for heat-insulating material, esp. foamed plastics or refractory foamed glass pieces. These are divided by thin-walled stems (3). Two open-sided chambers combine with similar ones in an adjacent block. Vertical channels (5) between the external rendering-bearing side (4) and chambers hold any penetrating water. The block cross-section (7) adjoining the other chamber side contains a number of small vertical chambers (8). The porous material does not reduce rigidity under pressure, the blocks providing high thermal insulation.
