The conveyor consists of a longitudinal row of baseplates possessing a longitudinal groove near each longitudinal edge of the baseplate; and in each groove in a row of balls carrying slides or trays on which the ceramic workpieces are placed. The slides or trays roll on the balls so the workpieces are conveyed through the furnace. On the baseplates, and between the two grooves, is a longitudinal row of holding-down plates employed to prevent the balls from moving upwards out of the two grooves. Each plate has two longitudinal edges which are curved to march the contour of the balls. A similar conveyor is described in DT2220392, but the balls are never completely round and exactly the same size so they tend to rise out of the grooves. The present invention eliminates this problem.
