Rough rolling billets with large cross=section - so they can enter continuous hot rolling mill train intended for billets with smaller cross=section

The rolling mill trains is e.g. a continuous train for rolling fine steel sections, and is located downstrea of a pusher hearth furnace, and the invention uses a roughing train in the other side of the furnace to reduce the cross-section of the large billets. The roughing train includes a reversing mill, and the rough rolled billet is reheated in the furnace before being fed into the continuous train. The roughing train pref. includes a reversing-, two high-, three high-, or double duo-roughing mill, and a planetary skew rolling mill or a forging machine may be used instead of the continuous rolling mill train located downstream of the rolls. A redn. in plant costs can be achieved.
