The low-noise angle valve has a conical seat (13) between inlet (2) and outlet connection (3), an adjustable valve cone (47), and a seal (5) between seat and cone. With the cone in the closed position, the seal is pressed fully down into sealing contact with the seat. When the cone is lifted, the seal moves in the direction of flow thus forming an annular flow passage (a) between the seat and itself. The seal may have a collar (51) on the inlet side which locates behind a shoulder (11) in the valve housing (1).
