摘要
For the monolithic cladding of the melting troughs in an induction furnace, before the core which together with the steel housing of the lower furnace and the inductors anchored to it, are enclosed by granular refractory material, is placed in position, it is wetted with an adhesive such as an epoxy resin and hardener which burns away at the sintering temp. Before wetting the core is wrapped in gauze and is sprinkled with a pre-sintering agent such as B2O5. The heating is then carried out until the skin of the trough is fully sintered. The procedure prevents the formation of hair line cracks in the lining as occur in other processes and the molten material is drawn into these by capillary action to destroy the lining rapidly.
