The attachments are fitted to the faces of lathe chuck jaws (16) in radial positions as the size and/or shape of the workpiece requires it. The jaws have a number of parallel bores (18, 20). The jaw (16) is fixed to the clamping mechanism (5) by screws (22) accommodated by continuations of the bores (18). The tapped bores serve as seats for the bolts, with such as lateral holes or flats for tightening by tommy bar or spanner. The bolts are positioned in a set of bores (18, 20) suitable for the shape and size of the workpiece. In view of the standard material used for these bolts, they can be adapted to a particular workpiece shape by machining and then discarded when operation with that workpiece is finished.
