The transformer has at least one of its windings (16) divided into two parts (22, 24) which are wound around respective parts of the core of differing cross-sectional area. The two winding parts (22, 24) can be wound in the same sense or in opposite senses with the number of turns of at least one of them varied for adjustment of the transformer parameters with the ferromagnetic core being untouched. The electromagnetic characteristics of the transformer may be finely adjusted by varying the number of turns of each winding part, so that the total windings number remains constant. The core (12) may be split into two spaced cylinders (18, 20) lying coaxially, o ne transformer winding (14) wound around both and the other in two parts (22, 24) respectively wound around both core cylinders (18, 20) and only one of them. The transformer can be used as a distributor in community antenna systems.
