The demountable barge is assembled from a number of similar pontoons using simple catches. The ends of the barge are fitted with vertical guides for securing the motors and screws, while the control point is on an adjustable platform on the rear. The whole assembly can be carried in sections on lorries. The vertical supports for the power units enable the screws to be set w.r.t. the loading depth of the barge. No special outdrives are required, with the motors and drive screws in a rigid pod sliding on the vertical guides,.
